About

Hello! My name is Isaac Lopez, and I am a 22-year-old aspiring journalist. I am a senior at Hunter College in New York City, working towards my undergraduate degree in Media Studies. Born and raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, I feel that I have a close connection with the neighborhood and what it’s all about, which is why the stories I write have some kind of connection with the neighborhood. I know the Upper West Side like the back of my hand, and even though it may seem like a quiet residential neighborhood on the surface, there are many surprises to be found.

I went to both elementary school and junior high school on the Upper West Side; PS 166 on West 89th Street, and IS 44 on West 77th Street. I was in junior high when I realized that I had a passion for writing. I also found that I kept up with current events more so than the rest of my peers. Since then, I always kept the possibility of a career in journalism in mind.

Outside of journalism, I do have other interests, of course. Music is a huge passion of mine, both listening to it and making it. I’m a guitarist in a band called Robots In The Skies, but I do make my own songs as well. A few of my favorite bands include Weezer, Radiohead, Death Cab for Cutie, and Superchunk. Other interests include photography, technology and jogging.
